"Dual Track Event" SESSION A: “USP Pure Steam – What It Means to You, RIGHT NOW!” - T. C. Soli, Vice Chair of the USP Expert Water Committee, discusses changes to industry standards.
For the first time (April 2006), official requirements existed for a widely used pharmaceutical “utility” frequently known as “clean steam”. This informative presentation will review USP Pure Steam changes, including a clarification of its official name and why the monograph was created, different specifications for different applications, the absence of some specifications now commonly used, clarification on how it must be produced, and clarification of appropriate uses for Pure Steam vs plant steam.

This program will focus on Human Factor Errors, System Design Errors and will explain why the ‘Train and Punish’ model simply doesn’t work. Managers will be presented with concepts and tools that can be applied right away in current operations to reduce errors, resulting in direct cost savings and reduced safety incidents. Results from research in the workplace in partnership with the leading global companies across the world will be discussed, including management tools tailored specifically for Pharmaceutical applications.
